Being an introvert often feels like a curse but combine that with a nomadic mindset, you might as well walk around with two heads looking abnormally.
Traveling alone is a daunting task for anyone no matter how much introverts love to be alone.
But there is hope and you can find a comfort level traveling as an introvert.
Vibe with your own tribe
Introverts don’t often connect like the rest of the Western world with traditional extroverted ways.
Most advice that you will hear about connecting is to join communities, especially in the nomadic world. Most of it is all the same, join communities, network, and blah blah blah.
These regurgitated tips help but only if you are an extrovert.
Introverts usually are invisible when it comes to meeting new people in large groups. This often increases that eternal feeling of loneliness.
The key is to connect with people on a deeper level. Introverts can’t do that in large groups with everyone fighting for attention. Extroverts will win at that game every time.
Here are some ways introverts can connect with others of like minds:
- Sign up for creative Air Bnb Experiences, photography, and intimate city tours
- Sign up for other creative endeavors that require one one-on-one connections such as cooking classes or dance classes
- Take local language classes
All of these require one one-on-one connection and the opportunity to tune into your introverted strengths and connect on a deeper level.
“To bring together a tribe of like-minded people and do amazing things.” – Seth Goodin
Create a workspace to get shit done
Having a creative workspace will make or break an introvert’s productivity level.
A lot of information out there will tell you to go to places like coworking spaces so you can be around other people of like minds.
This makes sense if you are an extrovert. Introverts need quiet spaces to get creative, reflect, and work. Being in their own world helps them focus on the work that needs to get done.
Coworking places have their places in working remotely while traveling but there are too many distractions that take away from an introvert’s work. Distractions may come in the form of interruptions.
One way to piss off an introvert is to continually interrupt them while they are in a flow state or known as in the zone.
Introverted nomads need the creative space to do great work. Here is how they can accomplish that:
- Find a quiet space such as your room put on your favorite music and tune the world out.
- Go to a place that inspires creativity. Sometimes these places may come in the form of coffee shops where you can people watch while you work.
- Create a mental and physical environment that encourages clarity. This means getting rid of clutter in the room and making sure there aren’t any mental stressors from others surrounding you.

Use solitude to control your altitude and attitude
Problem-solving is best utilized when the mind is at peace.
Solitude is an introvert superpower. But this is only utilized best when the mind is at peace. Creativity and problem-solving are at a peak when the introverted mind is at peace.
As an introvert nomad, you will spend many days alone. Some of these days will be spent toiling in loneliness and the other will be spent in solitude. Whether you are a remote employer or a solopreneur, you will have lots of time to create.
What does having solitude to create look like:
- Solitude sparks creativity. This creativity can be used to create your life, projects, or artistic hobbies.
- Solitude blocks out mental noise and gives you laser focus and clarity
- New ideas or solutions to problems are conjured up from random epiphanies
“Without great solitude, no serious work is possible.”
― Pablo Picasso
Go where you are celebrated, not tolerated
Environments have a huge influence on your mental energy.
Take a place like New York. Most introverts would struggle in a place like this. New York has a firm extroverted culture. Not to mention the bright lights, the constant moving, and the crowds of people would send an introvert to the mental asylum.
There are many places around the world where the environment is conducive for introverts.
“According to Eysenck’s theory, introverts have naturally high levels of arousal. Because of these high arousal levels, introverts tend to seek activities and environments where they can escape from overstimulation. Alone time gives them the opportunity to process and reflect on what they have learned.” – VeryWellMind
Be alone and become a superhero
Great things are created alone in the dark.
There is a difference between being alone and loneliness. Introverts know the differences. Traveling alone in a city where nobody knows you gives you extreme comfort.
Why?
This is because you don’t have the anxiety of running into somebody you know like you would back in your hometown
“Traveling alone doesn’t always mean you’re alone. Most often, you meet marvelous people along the way and make connections that last a lifetime.” – Jacqueline Boone
